such a restrictive environment and I wondered if I had made a mistake in taking that “good government job.”

Well everything changed quickly. There was downsizing and a new “reinventing government” initiative and suddenly I was the sought after employee. My creative ideas for simplifying workload and creative problem solving became an asset and my success was assured.

Now a days, flexibility and the ability to adapt are valued skill sets in most professions.  Creativity is essential to success in many fields.  We also need to use our creativity in finding a meaningful compromise between work, family, civic responsibilities, and just plain old free time.

I am a creative person and so I didn’t really value buffing up my creative section of my home. I felt I didn’t need it. But even creative people need to value and enhance their creativity.  Paying attention to this area can bring fun back into a life that seems dull. When even your fun activities seem too predictable, take a look at this section of your home and see where you can add some “pop”. You’ll be really glad you did.
